| HMMMMMMMMMM..........just out of curiosity.........I wonder if anyone out there will read this random, noninformational update? Does anybody even remember that this place exsists? If someone does, maybe I'll consider using this again once in awhile. Time will tell! | | |
| Not much to update about, but since I'm trying to be more diligent about this (even though I can only think of 1 person who might on occassion read this) here goes nothing. Ummmm.....let's see. In the last week we've had 2 of our 3 cars need major repairs totaling over $3900 min. (Steph's needs a whole new engine and Steve's has 175,000 miles on it so they said tons of stuff needed replaced-IT HAD BETTER LAST ANOTHER 175,000!) Not sure where God expects us to come up w/ it, but I guess that is part of having faith that he will somehow provide! Today was spent running around shopping for Steph before she heads back to college.....earlier than planned I might add, which makes me sad. But that is my own thing I need to deal with. She has decided to take an RA position and of course she needs to be down there earlier for all the new Freshman. I'm sure she will be a GREAT RA, but she will have a SUPER full schedule between the position, all her classes and possibly 2 jobs to boot. Please keep her in your prayers for this year. I KNOW she is going to feel stressed at some point-I just hope it won't happen too often or better yet at all. Let's see.... what else? OH the carnival is coming next week-which I hate! It is the one sure sign that summer is almost over and it will be time to get back to the grind of work and school and cold weather (which I also hate). I was seriously hoping that the school's construction would possibly delay the start for like another 2 wks. but then I'd just be upset in June that we'd have to be in longer soooooo I guess I'll just try and be accepting of the changes coming around the corner. Well that is about all for now. Sorry it wasn't more exciting! | | |
| Ok, for the one person who reads and asked me to update this thing, here is the story of my vacation.
So vacation officially started on Fri. w/ our going to see the latest Harry Potter movie. (It was ok-didn't really feel it explained anything further in the ongoing saga. It felt more like a "filler" movie. I'm hoping the next one is more exciting! AND NO I haven't read any of the books and don't want to know from those of you that have, what happens next. I plan on keeping my fingers in my ears, singing la la la very loudly so as not to spoil the final outcome for the next 2 yrs! So don't even try to tell me anything about it!) Anyway, the plans were to start the 9 1/2 hr. trip to TN on Sat. morning at 7 a.m. Needless to say-we didn't leave until 9 which for my family (10 people, 2 dogs, 2 cars and TONS of stuff) is pretty darn good! My sister being sick, needed to pick up a phoned in Rx in Mechanicsburg along the way-so that way laid us even more (they didn't have it ready when we got there), and we HAD to make a "quick" stop at Sheetz somewhere across the Maryland border for everyone to get milkshakes, etc. After the 45 min. "quick" stop we finally were on our way. The seemingly endless drive thru VA (I hate that state-it always takes so long to get thru it!) was made longer by the numerous "potty" breaks for the 3 little ones (who could never seem to get their bladders in sync) and the 2 two dogs and a late lunch/early dinner at KFC (LOVE their ckn., mashed potato bowls-highly recommend them!) with the realization that we only had about another 2 1/2 - 3 hrs. to go. When we finally reached our destination-well let's just say that the main street in town has 8 lights (we of course needed to turn at the 8th light) and it basically looks like something between Vegas and a boardwalk at the beach w/ TONS of souvineer shops, mini golf, outlet malls, etc. and it takes literally almost 45 min. to get thru the town to our light. We finally make it to our cabin check in location only to find that our cabin is somewhere off a turn back at light 3! So another 45 min. back to light 3 and it is now dark-pitch black. The street signs for roads that lead up the mountain aren't lit at all, we had to turn around 3 times-in the dark, on roads smaller than rt. 17, extrememly steep and with no guard rails!!!!!!!! And I'm afraid of heights!!!!!! Well, to cut to the chase-we finally found our way and the cabin and the whole trip down only took 13 HOURS!!!! (Can I say here that I shouldn't have been surprised?) Anyway, that truly was the worst part of the whole trip (except for coming home-I always hate coming home but especially this year. my family's schedules have caused us to be like 4 ships passing in the night and before you know it-summer will be over and the whole school/work rat race will begin again.). We had a really wonderful cabin on the side of a mountain that overlooked the valley. 2 large porches-1 w/ a hot tub, a pool table, 4 tvs, a pool close by and TONS of time to sit together and talk while rocking, soaking or playing pool (which I finally learned the secret to a good first break!) My brother and his family came for 2 days too. Honestly that was all we did most of the time. It truly was a wonderfully relaxing vacation and one we've all said we would like to do again-maybe even sometime for a Christmas one. Although, we'd definitely have to have 4 wh. drive vehicles in case it snowed! We'd never make it up those roads in snow-scares me just to think of it! So that's it in a nutshell-maybe sometime soon I can up load some pics. of the cabin.
In other news since our vacation-we have my niece & nephew visiting for a week (sister's kiddos) and they are keeping us very busy. But it is wonderful to have them here since we never seem to have time with them once school starts.
Well David (and anyone else who bothers to read this), I hope you enjoyed my update. There of course is always more, but too much to type so we'll have to save it for a real convo. sometime. But the above truly contained the most "exciting" stuff. This trip was actually pretty tame/quiet for our family's normal adventures! Well, I'd better run! Love to y'all (love the south! they are so polite and even when they aren't-with that southern drawl it still sounds like they are even when they are tellin ya off! Or should I say,"giving you a what for!" )
| Ok, I've been thinking about this thing every once in a while and have decided that on the off chance anyone out there might even care enough to check on this every blue moon or so, I'd finally update. (Thanks Sammy! ) However, since that would take WAY too much time let's just leave it at this-everyone here is good, but extremely busy! (I think I'm the only one who really lives in this house anymore!) There are TONS of people I really miss seeing and talking to-for those of you who know who you are, remember, I haven't gone anywhere and am always here or a phone call away and would love to hear from ya!
Other than that-summer has been pretty low key, but I'm certainly enjoying NOT working and am trying not to think about having to go back! Going away on vacation here soon and CAN'T wait! We are renting a cabin in the mountains of TN! I know it sounds completely crazy, but I'm really looking forward to peace and quiet in the mountains (maybe even see a bear or two), soaking in the hot tub on the porch overlooking the valley below (come on people-you know me and "roughing it"! ), reading a good book, and most importantly reconnecting w/ my family!
Well, that'll be all for now. I think I'm going to try and keep updating once in a while just for old time's sake. I miss the old times. Sometimes change isn't a good thing! Love to any of my "peeps" who might drop in!
| WOW!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it has been this long since I could update (on a different computer-still! ) AND that another year has flown by. And I do mean flown! There is tons I could say to fill whoever really reads this anymore in on the last 3 months, but then you'd be reading a book. I'll just try and keep it very short and more recent.
I soooo thankful that Steph has made it thru her first semister. I'm very proud of her and her drive to "make it happen" even with having to work every weekend. I do pray that this next one will be a little easier. She still has to work, but hopefully she'll take less credits. BUT y'all know her-she is a determined one! I'm super happy to have her home for a little as well. It finally feels like the family is "whole" once again. I can't tell you how much we all miss her! THANK YOU GOD FOR MY STEPHIE!
Shelby is happy for the break too (even though she is doing very well grade wise). She obliged my request to try out for the musical and got a part. Sooooo starting in Jan. we'll be spending LOTS of time together at musical practice. I hope she knows just how much I love her and am proud of her and her accomplishments. I tell her, but I don't always believe she really believes me. THANK YOU GOD FOR MY SHELBY!
The biggest joy for me right now is having everyone home. Steve has been working an extra job after working his regular one and hasn't been getting home till 10 or so. At that point Shelber and I are ready to sleep so there hasn't been much family time. Thankfully, he is off for the week of Christmas-and hopefully done w/ the 2nd job permanately. (or at least not sooooo many freakin hours!) I really felt like I did everything for Christmas this year all by myself. Shelb tried to help when she could (graciously spending HOURS shopping w/ me when she really didn't want to!), but I really missed having Steve around. The one good thing is this-it reminded me just how much I do rely on him and miss him being part of my daily life. I sooooo appreciate his patience dealing w/ me and his never ending love and support of me. I KNOW I am his one and only and he would move heaven and earth if he could to do anything to make me happy. THANK YOU GOD FOR MY HUSBAND AND SOULMATE!
Christmas this year was spent at my sister's in Wellsboro! My brother and his family came up fro NC, as well as my aunt & uncle from TX and my parents. The "Older folks" stayed at a lovely little B & B down the street, while the rest of us took turns staying here at my sister's with the kiddos and dogs. It was awesome to be together again-but we all felt that it would have been even more wonderful to be at the Belhurst Castle. (This has become a new family tradition!) So I think next year we'll probably go there. I can't even begin to describe to you how "magical" it just seems to be there with everyone for Christmas! I will not go so far as to say that everyone spent every waking minute together (4 little ones under the age of 5 tend to make things a little crazy at times!), but it certainly is part of the special memories that one day we'll look back at and and laugh about. My uncle was nice enough to purchase a night for each of us "younger couples" at another B & B in town at a beautiful victorian (right in my taste of things) so we all at least had some time to recoupe from the chaos! There was a damper though on the holiday as it was our first year without our beloved Poppie. BUT as sad is it was at times, the joy we had knowing he was spending his first Christmas w/ God this year, and the realization that we WILL be with him again (and hopefully soon!), helped to ease some of the sadness. THANK YOU GOD FOR EACH MEMBER OF MY FAMILY!
I don't know what the rest of vacation holds, but I do plan on filling the time with LOTS of quality time w/ my family and hopefully with some friends that haven't been able to be around. They are VERY much missed but always close in my heart!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU GOD FOR MY FRIENDS AND FOR EACH PERSON YOU'VE BROUGHT INTO MY LIFE!
My hope is that you've all had a wonderful Christmas holiday and that you've been able to be with those who mean the most to you. I love you all to pieces! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
